The service is offered on Mondays and Tuesdays starting at 9 a.m. on Montréal courthouse premises. The YBM schedules five mediation lawyers per day to ensure an efficient service. The lawyers are expected to handle four to five mediation files a day : this number might increase if the service proves effective.
The mediators are remunerated by the Minister of Justice in accordance with the rates prescribed in Regulation Respecting the Mediation of Small Claims. Thus, all mediators must be certified to act as mediators in actions involving.
Small claims as per the Regulation, otherwise the mediators will not be paid for the service provided.

Please note that the number of cases scheduled for the Small Claims Division will increase due to the creation of the mediation service. Thus, you must respect the dates assigned to you in the mediation service duty schedule.
To be officially considered for the mediation service, you must fill out and return an official application form, making sure you are certified to act as a mediator in actions involving small claims. Next, you will receive an availability request form, which allow us to arrange your schedule for subsequent months.
Once the application form is received, a mandatory information session with the Judge Martine Tremblay j.c.q. will be scheduled.
