Imposter syndrome

The Young Bar Association of Montreal is delighted to invite you to its 3rd edition of the Leadership with a capital "elle" conference. The aim of this event is to highlight the challenges and issues faced by women in various professional environments.

For this year's event, we've chosen to take a closer look at impostor syndrome, a subject that concerns women and men alike, as well as anyone likely to experience this feeling. This meeting will highlight authentic testimonials and concrete strategies for recognizing, understanding and overcoming this all-too-common phenomenon.

For the occasion, we are delighted to welcome Dana Baltaji (Dentons), Pascale Pageau (Delegatus), Medgine Gourdet (Pratt & Whitney) and Victoria Legault (Aide aux Trans du Québec). Through their rich and diverse backgrounds, they will share their experiences, the challenges they have overcome and the solutions they have implemented to affirm their leadership. The discussion will be moderated by Dominique Tardif, from our major partner ZSA.

We invite you to attend this conference on Tuesday, December 9, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Dentons' offices at 1 Place Ville-Marie, 39th floor, Montreal. Participants will be welcomed from 8:30 a.m., and the morning will continue until 11:30 a.m. with a networking brunch to exchange views with the speakers and other professionals in attendance.

What's more, this activity will enable you to complete 1.5 hours of training in ethics and professional conduct recognized by the Quebec Bar, an ideal opportunity to combine professional development, personal reflection and collective enrichment.

The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the challenges faced in different professional environments, to highlight the diversity of career paths and to offer concrete tools for overcoming doubt and building confidence. Because impostor syndrome knows no gender, the conference is open to all: lawyers, young professionals and students.

Victoria F. Legault

Aide aux Trans du Québec

Victoria F. Legault is a trans woman from Abitibi-Témiscamingue with an atypical career path. At the age of 24, she is the Executive Director of Aide aux Trans du Québec. Prior to this, she worked for almost two years as a deputy clerk with the Quebec Ministry of Justice, assisting the Cree and Inuit communities of Nord-du-Québec. She is also a member of Union des artistes and co-chair of the board of Égides - Alliance internationale francophone pour l'égalité et les diversités.

Involved for nearly ten years in defending and promoting the rights of LGBTQI+ people, she sits on several community research committees and nurtures a deep passion for the charitable sector. She is currently completing the Leadership, Impact, and Management in Business program at Harvard Business School.

Dana Baltaji

Dana Baltaji is the Manager, Student Recruitment and Professional Development in the Montreal office of Dentons Canada LLP. She is responsible for the recruitment and development of law students and co-op students. Prior to joining Dentons, Dana practiced law in the areas of civil and commercial litigation as well as labour and employment law with another major firm in Montreal.

Pascale Pageau

Médgine Gourdet is a commercial lawyer recognized for her expertise in corporate transactions, dispute resolution and regulatory compliance. She currently handles financing, debt and cash management, pensions and benefits, environment, health and safety (EH&S), post-sale commercial contracts for Canadian and U.S. entities, as well as government and defense contracts and litigation at Pratt & Whitney Canada. She also has experience in commercial litigation, real estate disputes and financial claims, and stands out for her skills in risk management, contract negotiation and alternative dispute resolution.

Dominique Tardif is President of ZSA Québec, which has specialized in the recruitment and placement of lawyers and notaries since 2005. She advises employers on structuring their legal departments and supports legal professionals in their career development. Dominique supervises the Montreal team and is actively involved in national strategy, marketing and partnerships. A member of the Quebec Bar since 2001, she has a wealth of experience in civil and commercial litigation, as well as writing legal columns. Passionate and committed, she values professional excellence as much as her family and personal projects.
