SPA- Quebec Court of Appeal

This free of charge service allows you to meet with a volunteer lawyer for a maximum of one hour, and receive information on how to prepare your brief and what to expect at your hearing before the Cour d'appel du Québec. This service is available only to unrepresented parties who have an open case before the Cour d'appel du Québec in Montréal, or who received notice of a hearing before the Court.

Important meeting information

  •  Given the fact that the number of places is limited, meetings are held by appointment only.
  • Meetings are held by phone from Monday to Friday between 12:00 pm  and 2:00 pm.
  • You must ensure that you have all the documents in your file with you. The volunteer lawyer will not have your file in his or her possession.
  • No appointments are given if you do not have an open file or a hearing date.

IMPORTANT: No legal advice will be given at these meetings. The lawyer will help you organize your presentation, but will not provide you with any arguments to make during the presentation, nor will he or she comment on your chances of success.

*  A law student may accompany the lawyer for observational purposes only. To this end, he or she must sign a confidentiality agreement regarding all information transmitted during the consultation, which obliges him or her to maintain secrecy about everything discussed during the meeting.
