The Legal.IT 2021 Conference: an engaging virtual experience not to be missed

TECHNOLOGIES AND THEIR GROWING IMPORTANCE IN THE LEGAL ENVIRONMENT

Montreal, March 12, 2021 - The Young Bar Association of Montreal (JBM) will be holding its 14th Legal.IT Conference on March 25 and 26. This year, the formula has been redesigned: interactive platform available for a month, conferences filmed in a professional studio, networking dinners focused on knowledge sharing, 6 h of continuing education (possibility of accumulating 16 h) and more! This event, dedicated to the impact of information technology and its potential for law, will bring together over thirty speakers. With nearly 300 participants at last year's event, this conference is a must-attend if you want to keep abreast of the latest technological trends in the legal profession.

"This important and unifying event enables participants to keep abreast of technological developments and their impact on their practice. For the 14th year, the JBM is proud to devote several hours of training to this crucial issue, both for the efficiency of companies and for their progress", points out Mylène Lemieux, President of the JBM. "This 14th edition, in a reinvented virtual format, looks at the technologies that have been put in place recently and what will change in the years to come. Topics touch on personal data protection, IP, mergers and acquisitions, cybersecurity, "Fintech" and more. The Legal.IT Conference is first and foremost a forum for exchange and sharing at the intersection of law, business and technology," adds NadaBelhadfa, director in charge of the Information Technology Committee (CTI) overseeing the organization of the event.

This year, the JBM is pleased to announce the presence of Mr. Éric Caire, Minister responsible for Access to Information and Privacy & Minister Delegate for Government Digital Transformation, as guest of honor. The Minister will participate in the opening plenary alongside Me Jennifer Stoddart and Me Nicolas Vermeys. Entitled " Perspectives tridimensionnelles sur la réforme de la protection des renseignements personnels au Québec", the panel will be moderated by Me Hélène Deschamps Marquis . A number of experts will be on hand to offer a wide range of training courses on current issues. The conferences are of the highest quality, and the topics covered as part of the Technology Showcase are highly relevant.

The JBM is pleased to invite young business people to take part in the fourth edition of the Cocktail Branché, to be held on March 25 at 6 pm. The Legal.IT Conference

The Legal.IT Conference began modestly in 2007. Over the years, the conference has welcomed over 2,000 participants from litigation departments, small, medium and large law firms, as well as public and para-public organizations. Since its inception, over 200 speakers from Canada and the United States have shared their knowledge and made the Legal.IT Conference a must-attend event in the country.
