Governance: JBM announces the end of ExtraJudiciary and the creation of two new committees

18 April 2023 News

The Young Bar Association of Montreal(JBM) is delighted to announce the end of production of its magazine l'ExtraJudiciaire. The last issue of this magazine, which has honoured our members with the quality of its content, will be published in June 2023, and will constitute the final publication of this Montreal legal magazine.

For over 30 years, ExtraJudiciaire has enabled volunteer members of the JBM to share their thoughts, experience and expertise, and to fuel constructive reflection on a variety of subjects. The JBM would therefore like to thank all the volunteers who, through their articles, have contributed to the success of this legal journal, which has existed since the late 80s. The JBM would also like to thank its partners and all those who have supported the magazine's production throughout its history.

"On behalf of JBM, I'd like to extend my warmest thanks to all the volunteers who have contributed to the magazine's success over the years. We would also like to thank our partners for their unfailing support in the production of each edition of the magazine. Our readers will continue to be able to read our volunteers on the LRC blog, which will have a new section with critical texts! We've enjoyed sharing our knowledge with you and look forward to proposing new initiatives for our members. "

The JBM revitalizes itself!

With this end also comes a restructuring of the organization's committees. Although ExtraJudiciaire will cease publication from June 2023, the JBM intends to continue its evolution with the creation of two new committees: the Sentinel Committee and the Outreach Committee. The Sentinel Committee will be responsible for ensuring that JBM declarations are respected and promoted, while developing new declarations or special and/or one-off projects as required. The Comité Sentinelle will also act as a guardian of eco-responsibility by proposing the adoption of eco-responsible practices, overseeing their implementation, and ensuring that the organization's commitments in this area are respected. For its part, the Outreach Committee will be responsible for strengthening JBM members' sense of belonging, and ensuring that initiatives are taken to promote volunteers, the organization and its history to future and former JBM members.

The members of the Comité Sentinelle and Comité Rayonnement will work closely with all JBM committees, the Executive Management team and the Board of Directors to make the JBM a dynamic, accessible and committed organization, capable of adapting to current challenges and charting a clear course for the future.and the Board of Directors to make the JBM a dynamic, accessible and committed organization, capable of adapting to today's challenges and charting a clear course for the future. The JBM is convinced that these new committees will better meet the needs and expectations of its members, while strengthening the organization's impact in the Montreal legal community.
