New guidelines for the administrative handling of legal proceedings before the Court of Québec
Montreal, June 28, 2023 - The Young Bar Association of Montreal (hereinafter the " JBM ") wishes to inform its members of the new guidelines governing the administrative process for legal proceedings brought before the Court of Quebec.
On March 15, 2023, the Quebec government adopted Bill 8, An Act to improve the efficiency and accessibility of justice, in particular by promoting mediation and arbitration and by simplifying civil procedure in the Court of Quebec (the "Bill"). of justice, in particular by promoting mediation and arbitration and by simplifying civil procedure in the Court of Québec (the "Bill"). The Bill proposed major amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure (the "C.C.P."), which will come into force on June 30. These amendments include the insertion of articles 535.1 to 535.15 in the Code of Civil Procedure (RLRQ, c. C-2501). On May 18, the Chief Justice of the Court of Québec, the Honourable Lucie Rondeau, initiated a consultation process on the proposed guidelines for the administrative processing of legal proceedings before the Court of Québec.
